The Nail
Day 1 in Tahoe---We checked in, the house is awesome, and we just got back from the EMERGENCY ROOM! No, I'm not kidding. John sliced his leg open from a nail on the coffee table---5 inches long. It took 29 sutures to repair his poor calf. The entire ER staff said it was "very impressive."
Somehow I reacted perfectly and John is really proud of me so that makes me happy. I remained calm, rushed him to the ER, took care of all the insurance stuff and photo documented the entire thing so that we can deal with the owners later. My one mistake was accidentally calling Alicia, John's sister back in Pennsylvania--Sorry Alicia!!!
Here are some of the pics---I'll update with the worst ones later. WARNING: MAY CAUSE QUEESY PEOPLE TO VOMIT.

24 Hours til Tahoe
All I want to do right now is crawl back into bed with my future hubby and dream of yesterday. Christmas was amazing---Davis was adorable. The funny thing about being a 4-year-old boy at Christmas is that you really don't care about any present in particular, more just the act of running to the Christmas tree to go grab another hidden gift and tear THAT wrapping paper to shreds. I still hear him---"Is this one for MMMEEEEE? Is this one for MMMEEEE???"
My favorite present this year is dance lessons that John got for us. I was planning on getting them before the wedding at some point but to have him get them was a true surprise! It's good to know he's in and that I don't have to feel bad now for dragging him away from the TV to go to dance class.
Tomorrow we leave for Lake Tahoe--we're staying in an awesome house with I think about 14 people. I can only imagine how this is going to play out---it kinda reminds me of the MTV reality show THE REAL WORLD.

This is a true story, of 14 friends, picked to live in a house....
to find out what happens, when people stop being polite...
and start getting real.

Dogs Logs
We had a stinky suspicion that Rambo had worms so we made him a doctors appointment for Monday. They needed a "fresh" POOP sample so John and I arranged that I would go home for lunch and I would be the designated DUNG collector. I would leave it for him as a gift on the "Welcome" mat. Feeling very silly for collecting FECAL MATTER I immediately called John after lunch...
Me-"You're going to be very proud of me! I left some SHIT for you at our front door!"
John-"Thanks. I'm leaving here in 20 minutes to take Rambo to the vet."
Apparently nothing we planned stuck in John's head...he threw the LINCOLN LOGS away! He forgot our entire BUSINESS plan!!! So John arrived at the vet STOOLLESS! After doing some initial testing (finding gum in Rambo's paw, realizing the pup had a 103 degree fever, and pointing out some flee dirt in this fur) they planned on doing some bloodwork. In the meantime, John had to go back to the house to dig the COLON CANNONBALLS out of the trash! Talk about adding insult to injury!!!
Regardless of the SHITTY situation, Rambo is very sick and I feel very bad for him. I despise people that abuse animals. The poor puppy has already been threw so much CRAP in his short life (we found out he's only 8 weeks old!) Some people are just cruel. I'm just happy we can provide a good home for Rambo and make it up to him for the rest of his life!

Thanksgiving Rambo
We adopted a new puppy for Thanksgiving! Somebody abandoned two sweet cocker spaniel puppies at a swap meet in Palmdale. They're a little under developed and small for there young age of 13 weeks but I just couldn't help falling in LOVE! Luckily my Aunt and I were able to rescue them...Aunt Wendy took Grace and we took the boy (aka Rambo--- obviously a John decision.) We brought them home Friday night and so far Rambo and Rusty get along pretty well. Rambo has learned how to sit on command and the potty training is now in progress (he fake pees to get treats but I'm not falling for that again!)
Saturday we went to Laguna Beach to take the engagement pictures! It was such a great time! We took Davis and Rambo and got some family pictures of the 4 of us (sorry Rusty--we missed you!) My parents came down too and they had a great time playing with Davis in the sand while we took pictures of just John and I.

Full of Smoke
Southern California decided to light up in flames THIS weekend. Of course it was the weekend I’ve been looking forward to for an extrememly long time---THE engagement picture weekend. This Sunday has been on my mind for months…deciding what to wear, how to do my make-up, what John’s going to wear, checking the weather every five minutes to see if there was any chance of rain in Orange County, confirming that the ladies were coming on time to do my hair/make-up trial, making sure the photographer was ready and getting directions to the beautiful beach in Laguna.
I woke up Saturday morning-still feeling achy from the cold I’ve been trying to get over for the past week- and I looked outside the window to find a huge black cloud. Fire? No, it couldn’t be…it’s November! Before I could think too much about it I noticed the tornadoes of ash outside…sure enough Cali was up in flames…again. But this time was different, the clouds were much darker then I’m used to—yes, you kinda get used to it here. I ran and turned on the TV….every channel had live coverage of a mobile home park going up in flames about 15 miles east of us. Btw, East to me is completely backwards when I’m in the valley so I think it’s actually North-which is my East.*don’t ask
Well today is our Saturday with Davis. We spend every other Saturday with him as well as every Wednesday-I wish it were more and John says that someday soon it will be, but for now that’s the way it is. So with the fires and all we decided to escape the ashy Valley and head down to LA to get my ring fixed and visit with Uncle Kevin. Davis was ecstatic when we arrived-Uncle Kevin and Ted’s house is full of super hero toys, 3 dogs (Kevin rescued another one), and to my surprise Ted even has an Emmy that stands proud above the fireplace. The guys had a blast, especially Davis. I spent most of the day reading Twilight in the sunny room trying to keep from getting everybody sick with this annoying cold. I can't wait til this Friday to see the movie!!!
After dropping Davis off at his moms we headed back to LA--in traffic of course since multiple freeways shut down as the fire swept across Southern California. We spent time with good friends and watched the UFC fight at Jack and Marci’s house. Jack asked John to be one of his groomsmen which made John really happy. I was showing Marci a picture of my wedding dress on the computer and decided to check my email. I had an email from the make up ladies cancelling our appointment due to the fires-Dammit!
Sunday, the day of THE pictures, I decided to go to MAC to get my make-up done since my original plan fell thru, literally last minute, in an EMAIL! Of course Topanga was completely booked so I picked up mom and we drove out to the Thousand Oaks Nordstrom. The lady that did my make up was average, actually she was extremely heavy but she did an average job on the make up. I had her use my lip pencil which she then forgot to give back to me-guess that’s my fault too. Anyways, as soon as I finished, I get a call from the photographer. “I’ve been in the car for an hour and there is no possible way to reach the beach. Every freeway in Orange County is closed.” Great. Especially after I just spent $59 at MAC.

Destracted from Detroit
So I considered not writing this story since I know that Lindsay on occasion looks at my blog. Lindsay by the way is my boss, well not technically but pretty much. She lives in Kansas City and pretty much tells me what to do all the time which is great because she keeps me really busy. The sad part is that she is now officially on maternity leave :( She was due yesterday but she went to the hospital last night to be induced so she literally could be having the baby as I type. Anyways, seeing that she will probably be to busy with a crying baby to read this, I will continue.
Our trip to Detroit was awesome! We got to see John's whole family, attend a gorgeous wedding, spend a lot of time playing with the girls, and even go to a Lions game. I'm so glad I got to meet people in the family like Matt and Ann, Uncle Al and Chris-just to name a few! It was nice to meet them before hand since I'm sure I'm going to be in a complete frenzy the day of our wedding.
So the problem started when we landed in Chicago. We had about a two hour layover so innocently enough we grabbed some McDonalds and went to a sports bar/lounge to grab a soda. I sat next to an elderly man and, like I always do, I was eavesdropping on him and his wife. I don't remember how it all started but all the sudden we were talking to them about our honeymoon cruise in the Mediterranean. They were on there way to England and then touring for 3 weeks around Europe. The woman worked for the travel section of a Denver Newspaper---she was incredible! Actually they were both incredible!!! He must have been at least 80 years old and he was telling us about the adventure they were headed off to. The inquired all about our trip and of course shared many suggestions with us.
Suddenly the woman looked at her watch and told us they had to go make their flight. The man asked what time our flight was. John said “It doesn't board til 7:50” The man looked at us peculiarly and stated that it was 8:15. OH SHIT!!!! We ran so fast across the airport—we made it! I saw the plane! We went to go check in and the lady said “Sorry. We already closed the door.” Apparently, once the door is closed the plane can be sitting on the runway for an hour but you still can’t get on. We felt soooo stupid! We couldn’t even blame it on the alcohol…After looking at each other, silently, for over a minute, we just laughed!

Pumkin Carving
So last night we came up with a new family tradition....Pumpkin Carving! I know it's not very original but I can't even remember the last time I carved a pumpkin....I forgot how entertaining it is! And now that I've developed into such an artist, my pumpkin carving skills are much more sophisticated then in my amateur days ;-)

Team Bride Dresses
So I'm bored at work looking at BM's dresses and I found a few I like...I have a girl I've been working with that orders them direct to save cost. The prices per dress is below.
I would like John's tie to be Ivory to match my dress and then the guys ties to be red to match the girls.
Any thoughts or preferences? The full images are on dessy.com!
