We're Pregnant!!!

We found out on my birthday and it was the best birthday present ever!  Right before we went out to dinner I took a test-just to double check since we had planned on having a glass of wine at dinner.  Well I completely forgot to read the directions!  I was freaking out because I didn’t know what the results meant---they should really make them say Yes or NO plain and clear...this line stuff surprisingly requires directions.  Anyways, when we found out we were just ecstatic!  I took 5 total tests just to make quadruple sure and yep!  All positive!

We heard from many of our friends who are trying that “making a baby isn’t as fun or easy as it sounds” so we thought if it happened on the first try it would be a miracle!  That’s exactly what our little bambino is—a miracle!

And bambino definitely knows how to make a birthday special :)

So we’re 5 weeks preggers and I’m feeling really good.  I’m lucky to report NO morning sickness yet!  I do notice a slight change in my belly though-I have a little baby pouch even though I haven't gained an ounce!  And there's NO sucking it in!

How far along? 5 weeks!
Total weight gain/loss: none...although my stomach tells a different story
Maternity clothes? Nope
Stretch marks? No way but lots of cocoa butter
Sleep: Can't sleep thru the night---I wake up every night to pee!  Enjoying a few afternoon naps
Best moment this week: Knowing we are pregnant  :)
Movement: None yet.
Food cravings: lots of salty food and vegetable soup
Gender: I'm thinking it will be a girl for some reason.
Labor Signs: Nope.
Belly Button in or out? Still in
What I miss: Drinking wine
What I am looking forward to: Our doctors appointment next Tuesday
Weekly Wisdom: Deli meat will not give you listeria.

Birthday Wish Come True

I officially had the best birthday of my entire life!  Last night we celebrated with family at my parents house and Davis was a perfect little party planner!

Alexandra came too and we played games, wore cute little hats, and ate yummy carrot cake  :)  Tonight John and I went to Lawry's and ate the best prime rib I've ever had in my life!  I also got the best little present ever!

WARNING--IT IS THAT TIME OF THE MONTH.  

If I never see one of our wedding invitations again it will be WAY to soon!  It's been absolute HELL since I started this entire project!  I've wasted way toooo many hours on our neverending guestlist of people---Sometimes I wish we could run off to Lake Tahoe and get married at one of those little wedding chapels in the snowy mountains!!  That would be sooo much more romantic.

Anyways, today was THE day we were going to mail out the invitations.  We've had to push back THE day for about a week since everything seems more important than getting these out to everybody else-at least the people in my life who HAVE made any effort to help with anything-the list is VERY SMALL.  Well, weeks ago I went to the post office to get the correct stamp price.  I was told by the man it would be .79 per invitation.  Just to DOUBLE check--I went on usps.com and entered in the information...Yep!  .79 per invitation.  Just to TRIPLE check--I mailed out my future-mother-in-laws invitation.  Did it get there?  YES, IT DID.

So on THE day---which was supposed to be TODAY---I go to the post office to mail out MOST of the invitations.  (The rest are still in envelope limbo-which is where they go if we don't know how to address the names or don't have the physical address.)  So...I parked on the street, put money in the meter, and waited in line.  It's my turn...yay!  "Hi!  These are our wedding invitations so I just wanted to make sure I gave them to you by hand instead of putting them in the mailbox :)"  The man looked pleased to help--then he pulled out some funny looking ruler---"These actually cost $1 each to mail"---"Excuse me?"---"Yes miss, I'm sorry to tell you---but these cost $1 each to mail"

Apparently he didn't realize ALL the double and triple checking I had done to make sure I had the right postage!  He HAD to be wrong!!!  This just couldn't be happening to me!  I never thought I would start crying at the post office--but I admit, I totally felt a tear run down my cheek.  I called my two saviors--John and Mommy--and immediately they came to the post office to my rescue!  After another discussion with the mailman we decided we MUST get another stamp and make the pretty envelopes I worked so hard on---just PLAIN ugly.   "Well, we have a 27 cent stamp" said the man---"may we please see it?"  As he pulls out an ugly piece of paper filled with half eaten fruits.  "No, that just WILL NOT do.  What is the prettiest stamp that you have" ---"Well, we have hearts but they are 42 cent stamps" ----"We'll take them!"  So after putting on heart stamps (beside the heart stamps that were .79) we put them into the mailbox!!!!  They look absolutely horrible and tacky but at least I don't have to look at them anymore  :)  I apologize in advance to others that will...I swear the intent was elegant; just the outcome sucked!

So, me and my post office posse walk outside--satisfied.  not happy, but satisfied.  Then as I walk to my car I realize I got a parking ticket!  $48!!!!   

I can't even be upset at this point.  These invitations will be the end of me if I let it get to me.  So now I'm going to drink wine, take my little "time of the month" happy pills, and attend my cake tasting......a little tipsy!!!  ;)
